Is that something that she will be able to tolerate? And, of course these seatbelt rules mean nobody travelling, while the vehicle is in motion, can get up and go an assist another traveller, take a bathroom break or use the kitchen/galley area to grab a drink, either. Thus, she will need to be sitting upright and not lying down or reclining for all those many thousands of miles to reach California, and back. While any vehicle is on the move, the law will insist that all passengers are in seats and with seatbelts on. What's ringing alarm bells to me is that you say she finds it more comfortable to be lying down. Will there be always at least one of you available to assist with mobility issues, given you have added the further info that your Mom is not wheelchair bound? On a flat, paved surface how far can she walk unaided, or with the support of a cane or stroller? Will it be just the 3 of you travelling, and all 3 of you the entire trip?
